David Burroughs Mattingly is an American illustrator and painter best known for his numerous book covers of SF and fantasy books. He attended the Colorado Institute of Art , Colorado State University and later transferred to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After school, he worked at Walt Disney Studios, ultimately becoming head of the matte department.
