A fan and filker since the early 70s, she is composer and performer. Her filkzines include Rec Room Rhymes and Sing a Song of Trekkin', published from 1977 and 2012 and the Rec-Room Rhymes Omnibus published in 1982. With Carol Kabakjian, she co-edited the Filkdex, a fanzine of filk songs and performers. She was a member of APA Filk.

In 1991 her book Futurespeak -- A Fan's Guide to the Language of Science Fiction was published by Paragon House. This dictionary has over a 1,000 entries. She has worked on many conventions.
