The Small Press Writers and Artists Organization (originally named the Semi-Pro Writers and Artists Organization) was established around 1977 to improve the quality of small press publications. By mid-1978 it had about 60 members and was led by Chet Clingan of Oroville, CA and appears still to exist. It also published a clubzine of the same name.
