After the prozine Science Fiction Stories failed the rights to the title were purchased by James V. Taurasi to be used for a fiction fanzine. "The Original" was an advertising phrase used on Science Fiction Stories covers and mistaken by Taurasi (and many other fans) as part of the name.
The fanzine was edited Ray Van Houten.
