When people GAFIAte, it's still helpful to know "and then what happened"

We know that Virginia Laney Daugherty was in her 20s during the 1940s when she was married to Walter Daugherty. And, at some point, they divorced.

According to the 1940 census, there was a Virginia Laney who lived in California. She was born in 1922 in Los Angeles and still lived with her parents in Los Angeles in 1940. The 1950 US census will not be published until 2030, so there's no easy way to check her status for 1950.

I couldn't find marriage records, but not all states publish this information. I did, however, see a notice in a 1943 newspaper (The Colton Courier) stating that the 2-day old son of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Daugherty died in Loma Linda, a town about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Do we know if Walter Daugherty lived outside of LA in the '40s?

If the Virginia Laney in LASFS in the '40s was born in April 1922, she seems to have gone on to marry someone named St. George: ColtonClip.jpeg

Assuming the Mr. Daugherty in the clipping is our Walt, the Mrs. might be Eleanor O'Brien, Walt’s first wife. They were married June 28, 1941. We don’t know how long it lasted.
Virginia used the Daugherty name in fanzines in 1946, so she married Walter sometime between 1941 and 1946.
