Skillingstead is an American SF writer living in Seattle, Washington. As of 2014 Skillingstead had published thirty-one short stories in professional and semi-professional markets. He had also published two novels and a short story collection. He has been nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award and the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award.
Since 2011 he has been married to writer Nancy Kress.
