DeepSouthCon 27 (which was also MidSouthCon 8) was held June 9-11, 1989 at the Memphis Marriott on American Way in Memphis, TN. Attendance was 533 by one report and about 275 by another. GoH: Orson Scott Card, FGoH: G. Patrick Molloy, Artist GoH: Mary Hanson Roberts, and Bill Sutton was Filk Guest. C. J. Cherryh was Toastmaster.
It was chaired by Richard Moore. Steven Carlberg and Maurine Dorris won the Rebel Award and Robert Adams won the Phoenix Award. The Rubble Award went to John H. Guidry.
