VCON 39 was held October 3-5, 2014 at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford hotel in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The theme was "Military Might -- From Sword & Sorcery to Phasers & Grasers". The GoHs were David Weber, David Mattingly, and Bruce Heard. This was also Canvention 34, for which the GoHs were Tarol Hunt and Melissa Mary Duncan.
The new Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame was inaugurated as part of Canvention 34. The inductees were Phyllis Gotlieb, Judith Merril, Dennis Mullin, Robert J. Sawyer, A. E. van Vogt, Susan Wood, William Gibson, and Spider and Jeanne Robinson.
