The 1949 Open ESFA was a one-day convention held March 6, 1949 at the Slovak Sokol Hall in Newark, NJ. Sam Moskowitz very nearly got Olaf Stapledon to speak, but a date conflict prevented it and Moskowitz himself gave a speech on the prophetic nature of sf.
