Es Cole (née Esther Douglas), a California fan, was a member of the Elves, Gnomes & Little Men's Science Fiction, Chowder & Marching Society. She was on the concom of SFCon (the 1954 Worldcon in San Francisco), along with her her husband, Les Cole, who co-chaired it with Gary Nelson.

The couple met when they were students at the University of California, Berkeley; they married in 1947 and attended their first convention, Nolacon, in 1951, where Bob Bloch started a rumor that Es and Les were 15-year-old twin brothers.

The Coles gafiated after SFCon and didn’t return to fandom until 1993.

Es survived Lester in 2019, along with their sons Dana and Lance.[1] As of early 2020, she was alive and well in Ventura, CA.[2] With Carin Wofford, Es published Neighborhood Watch, a light mystery novel, in 2013.
