Major is the author of the critical study, Heinlein's Children: The Juveniles (Advent 2006). He publishes fanzine Alexiad with his wife Lisa Major.

Heinlein's Children studies Robert A. Heinlein's juvenile novels and "emphasizes plot development and incident, considers what Heinlein was trying to do in each story and how well he succeeded, and also points out possible influences from other sources."
