Tynecon II, which was also Mexicon 1, was held May 25-28 in 1984 at the Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle, UK. The venue had previously hosted the first Tynecon, the 1984 Eastercon. It was chaired by Kevin Williams. The programme book does not formally identify guests of honour but notes that:
... we are particularly pleased to welcome Russell Hoban and Alasdair Gray, both writers who have built a considerable reputation for themselves in the "mainstream".
The newsletter was The Cactus Times.
The programme book was edited by Rob Hansen. In his chairman's introduction, Williams wrote that:
Mexicon is the principle and Tynecon II is this year's manifestation of what we hope will become an annual event.
The programme book lists 212 members to May 7, 1984.
