Belfast, Northern Ireland, has a long history in fandom, it was here that the hugely influential Wheels of IF of the 1940s and 1950s came to prominence. The city played host to the Belfast Triangle and many famous fans, like Walt Willis, Bob Shaw, James White and John Berry.
The Queen's University Belfast Science Fiction & Fantasy Society ran Nicons there from 1986 to 1989 and MeCons from 1998 to 2008.
Other clubs in the city include Belfast Science Fiction Group and The Other Ones.
The city has been the venue for two series of conventions:
