An SF bookstore in Minneapolis, MN, founded in 1974 by Don Blyly. It is a companion to the connected mystery store, Uncle Edgar's (opened December 1, 1980). Staff have included Manager Scott Imes, Ken Fletcher, and Elizabeth LaVelle.
On May 30, 2020, both stores were burnt down during a riot in which Minneapolis’ other sf bookstore, Dreamhaven, was also damaged. The arsonist wasn’t caught. "It was obvious that it had not been done by the people who were disturbed by what happened to George Floyd,” Blyly told KARE11. "It was a really pro job because someone had gone along to each and every one of the plate glass windows and punched a hole this big around and injected accelerant in and lit each of the holes."
Uncle Hugo’s existed as an online entity until Blyly was able to reopen in a new location in early September 2022.

This is an SF bookstore page. When a floreat "fl." is listed it records the dates for which we have evidence and may not be the store's entire span. |
