Bruce Evry, a Maryland fan, founded the FanTek club in 1981. A few years later, he married Cheryl Evry, and they hosted EveCon and CastleCon in the Washington, DC, area for over 20 years. He was also the director of the Washington Area Computer Enthusiasts beginning in 1986.
Bruce suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in October 2015.
