In fandom, something that has been done once is a tradition [cue Fiddler on the Roof soundtrack], and twice is an old tradition. More than twice makes not doing it unthinkable, at least among conrunners.

Traditions take rather longer to become fixed among fanzine fans, perhaps because of the slowness of the mails.
