(???? – )

Edwin 'Ed' Whitehead was a United States fan from Dallas[1], Texas active in the 1940s.

Futurian War Digest #34 (April 1944) reported that Whitehead was new to fandom and came 'from Texas to London to meet his first fellow fans', although the only fan he's specified as meeting was Gus Willmorth from Los Angeles (both were in the US armed forces). In March 1945 FWD #39 reports Whitehead as having moved to Paris where he was engaged to an unnamed English woman. While there he met Milt Rothman, as reported in Milty's Mag (October 1945).

In a letter to VOMbozine (1946) Whitehead said:

I am not a science-fiction fan, although I enjoy reading a good science yarn. Unknown was the top mag on the market for my money, but since it's untimely demise I place Astounding on top of the heap. Have read Astounding for quite a few years and would miss it if it ever ended publication, but much of the more technical writing is completely over my head. I believe fantast is a good term for the lovers of Unknown and Weird. As for an overall term I'm still waiting for someone else to suggest one.
