(1916 - May 8, 1936)

William Aldous Dyson was a fan from Huddersfield, UK active in the 1930s. He has the unenviable distinction of being the first known UK fan to die.

Dyson was a member of the Leeds SFL, according to J. Michael Rosenblum the first person to contact Douglas W. F. Mayer after the Chapter was established[1], and a student at Leeds University studying colour chemistry. He was in his third year when he was found dead in the basement of the University’s chemistry department. An inquest recorded a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane. He was reportedly depressed that he might fail his exams and also been told that an injury would prevent him from ever taking part in athletics.
