This name has been incorrectly given to a variety of gremlin. Actually, according to Campbell, it means "wonderful gadget".

The [Widget], the [Wadget], and Boff is a well-known novella by Theodore Sturgeon that first appeared in November and December 1955 issues of F&SF.
