Talk:Gunther Loth

Not sure if (and how) worth mentioning in the main entry, but I did quite a thorough Googling already yesterday ;) and could not find him in any connection to sf. Austrian fandom back then must have had mere couple dozen people, so it seems he really was not an active, core, recorded and remembered fan, just like some other UK attendees, though his presence in London is somewhat surprising then. Still, he may have been, say, an exchange student who just liked the stuff and happened to run across the con. Also, he may have moved abroad later; there are namesakes (and age peers) from Munich to US.

I expect the name was Günther, with umlaut, but Mercer did not have it on his typer. --JVjr (talk) 07:12, 14 February 2025 (PST)

I suppose another possibility is that Mercer got the name wrong. He did have access to the membership records but his typing -- or perhaps Sture Sedolin's -- was sometimes erratic (and I can't complain as I nearly misspelled 'Sedolin'!). The idea that he happened to be in London rather than making a special trip is certainly plausible. --Mark Plummer (talk) 04:21, 15 February 2025 (PST)
