Philip Strick was a British film critic and lecturer.
From 1969 he ran an SF class at the Sandford Institute in London. It later moved to the City of London Institute of Literature, popularly known as the 'City Lit' and so the attendees became known as the City Illiterates. The class continued until 1992.
