Michael Lord

Michael 'Mike' Francis Lord was a UK fan and fanartist from London active in the 1940s. He attended the Eastercon and was a member of the Cosmos Club and the British Fantasy Society.
He may have been a member of the Paint Research Station Science Fiction Library as his earliest contributions to The Beyond was in Autumn 1942, predating the formation of the CSC. He was certainly an early member of the CSC and contributed both fiction and art throughout the fanzine's run with editor E. Frank Parker describing his artwork as 'distinctive'. He was also known for his long letters to the editor[2].
He was a keen photographer and his obituary in Futurian War Digest #36 noted that he was trying to photograph a kestrel's nest when he fell to his death. He had joined the Fleet Air Arm in May 1943. and just completed his training as a naval officer when he died while waiting to be posted[3].
