Los Angeles in 1942
A bid to hold the 1942 Worldcon in Los Angeles by was presented at Denvention by Walter Daugherty. It defeated three other bids (see 1942 Worldcon Site Selection), but was not able to run Pacificon I until 1946 because of the War.
(In those early days, there was probably no formal bid committee more than a few days prior to the presentation at Denvention.)
