Jodie Offutt

(December 1, 1934 – November 20, 2022)

Mary Joe “Jodie” McCabe Offutt was a Southern fan. She wrote for numerous fanzines, especially during the 1970s, and was a regular con goer. She was a member of Apple, FLAP and KAPA, and the Southern Fandom Confederation.

Originally from Lexington, KY, and later living in Oxford, MS, Jodie was married to SF writer/editor Andrew J. Offutt (1934–2013); they spent many years living in Morehead, KY, where she assisted in the business end of his writing career. She also worked as a teacher and an administrative assistant to lawyers. Jodie graduated from Morehead State University with a B.A in Philosophy and an M.A. in English.

Jodie and Andy had four children, Chris Offutt, Jeff Offutt, Scotty Hyde, and Melissa Offutt; five grandchildren and a great grandchild.
