Derelicti Derogations

A feature of A BAS, Boyd Raeburn's fanzine, these quasi-playlets are made up of actual quotations from fanzines and letters, mostly revealing ghastly depths of fuggheadedness in the speakers. Much imitated (with little success), but also much attacked by their victims -- notably Peter Vorzimer.

They were also called Derelict Derogations, and first written in the 1950s by Raeburn in his fanzine A Bas, but later done to similar effect by others. The Raeburn version tended to revolve around fictional meetings of the Derelict Insurgents and Tommy Steele Record Boiling Society, in which actual quotes of contemporary fans were taken out of context and woven into fanciful satirical fictional "dialogues". John D. Berry, aka the American John Berry, was one of the better practitioners.
