Afrofuturism

Afrofuturism is a genre of fiction incorporating sf, fantasy and magic realism as seen from a Black cultural perspective, in works relating to the African diaspora. The term was coined by critic Mark Dery in "Black to the Future: Interviews with Samuel R. Delany, Greg Tate, and Tricia Rose" (South Atlantic Quarterly, 1993), and was quickly adopted by sercon fandom. A related term, Africanfuturism, has been promoted for the stfnal works of writers from Africa itself.
