The 1973 Campbell Award was presented September 2 at Torcon 2.
Torcon 2 published the order of only the two places in this category, leaving the order of the later finishers in doubt. It was reported at the time that they were so close together (and presumably so far separated form the others) that Torcon II gave Effinger a second place plaque.
