Śląski Klub Fantastyki

Established in 1981, Śląski Klub Fantastyki (ŚKF) is the oldest club in Poland which was still active in 2020.

It ran a number of conventions:

  • Silcon (In the 1980s, now discontinued)
  • Seminarium Literackie (literary Seminar) (Since 1993, a small convention devoted mainly to literature. It is Seminarium Literackie where the yearly awards – Śląkfa are presented.)
  • Asucon (manga convention) beginning in 1999. The convention had ups and downs and it did not took place in a few years.
  • Śląskie Dni Fantastyki (Silesian SF&F days, since 2018)
  • It ran five Polcons (Polish national convention) in the years 1986, 1988, 1997, 2001 and 2010 (it was organized as a Eurocon together with Czech and Slovak convention – ParCon)

And published fanzines:

  • Gwaihir – total of ten issues were published between 1985 and 2010 it was created by the Tolkien section of ŚKF
  • Gwaihirzę – it was created by the Tolkien section of ŚKF and between 1989 and 1997 over 100 issues were published
  • Little Gwaihir and New Little Gwaihir – those were English versions of Gwaichirzę
  • Simbelmynë – published irregularly since 1997 with latest issue (31) appearing in the winter of 2019
  • Aiglos – another fanzine created by the Tolkien section – Published since 2004. So far 23 issues in Polish and two special issues in English were released
  • Miesięcznik – over 200 issues were published between 1989 and 2016
  • Fikcje (1983 – 1988)
  • Logrus Literary Section of the club published a few issues of Nieoficjalny Obiekt Literacki (Unofficial Literary Object) and three volumes of Ścieżki Wyobraźni (Paths of imagination) – anthology created by members of the section.
