He also published the apazine Stairway to Cleveland for ANZAPA. Other fanzines he published include Alician Fields, Ariel, As Flies, Dormouse, Dropping the Shorts, The Mad Dan Review, Q36 (which won the Ditmar Award for Best Fanzine in 1981-1983), Tigger, and TANSTAAFL. He was also an editor of the Australian Science Fiction Foundation fanzine The Instrumentality.
In 1982, he administered the Mid-Atlantic Fan Fund. He was "Convention Muggins" of SpawnCon Two, the 1999 Australian NatCon and edited the Aussiecon III Progress Reports and convention newsletter, The Monotreme. He was toastmaster of Tschaicon in 1982. He is married to fellow fan Cath Ortlieb.
