Born in Utica, NY, Vaughn Frederick Bodé was an underground cartoonist and illustrator known for his character Cheech Wizard and his artwork depicting voluptuous women. His fan art illustrated many fanzines and he displayed work in the art shows of such conventions as St. Louiscon and Discon I.

Bode Bulletin was a fanzine about his work. A cartoon battle with Jack Gaughan was published in Battle of the Titans.

A friend of animator Ralph Bakshi, Bode has been credited as an influence on the films Wizards and The Lord of the Rings. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame for comics artists in 2006.
