Shayol was a fanzine published on an irregular schedule for seven issues during 1977-1985 by Pat Cadigan and Arnold Fenner. It won the (Coveted) Balrog Award for Best Amateur Publication in 1979 and 1983. At one time Cadigan and Fenner were married.

Cadigan is a SF writer whose work is associated with the cyberpunk movement. Her books include Fools, winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award; an anthology, The Ultimate Cyberpunk; and such media tie-ins as Jason X.
