Herbert W. Franke was an Austrian-born scientist and SF writer living in Germany. He devised computer graphics since the late 1950s, was also interested in speleology (some of his early books on it were even published in Britain), and attracted some media attention when he got on Twitter before his 95th, and sadly last, birthday. (He was surely among Oldest Living SF Writers.) He was the European GoH at Heicon '70, the 1970 Worldcon.
