AggieCon I (which apparently was also sometimes known as Science Fiction Week) was held April 21–24, 1969, at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. The GoH was Harlan Ellison.

This appears to have been the first SF convention ever sponsored by a college or a college SF club. (Another contender is Minicon 1, but it is unclear that Minn-StF was a college organization in spite of it meeting on campus.)

At the con, Ellison referred to the university's Corps of Cadets as "America's next generation of Nazis," in reference to the ongoing Vietnam War. The student body was predominantly made up of cadets. Between Ellison's remarks and a food fight that broke out in the ballroom of the hotel, the school almost refused to approve the con the next year, and no guest of honor was invited for the next two years. However, Ellison was invited back as goh of AggieCon V.
