Pauline Harriet “Polly” Freas (née Bussard) was a much-loved figure in mid-Atlantic fandom, a frequent con-goer.

She met SF artist Frank Kelly Freas at an SF club meeting in Pittsburgh in 1949. They married in 1952 and had two children. They co-edited several books.

When her lymphoma became known in mid-1979, Margaret Middleton organized PollyAPA, a one-shot, get-well-card APA presented to her at Northamericon. There was also a major fundraiser organized by HaRoSFA to help with her medical bills after her final illness.

There is a short obituary (with follow-on news reports) in File 770 64, p. 1.
