Signet’s focus was affordable paperback reprints of classics and scholarly works, as well as popular and pulp fiction. Many SF books were reprinted as Signet paperbacks. Popular SF authors whose books were reprinted as Signet paperbacks in the 1950s included Isaac Asimov, Alfred Bester, James Blish, Arthur C. Clarke, Edmond Hamilton, Robert Heinlein, Wilson Tucker, and A. E. van Vogt.
