JD-Argassy

An irregular fanzine devoted to the pulps and edited by Lynn Hickman. It was 8½ X 11 inches, and stapled. There were at least 60 issues and many were distributed through OMPA. A pulp collectors' site calls it "a nice resource for the serious collector."

It was nominated for the 1959 Best Fanzine Hugo and the 1960 Best Fanzine Hugo.

Its history is a bit complicated, being the merger of JD and Argassy, the latter an allusion to Argosy magazine.

Variant titles: J. D Argassy, JD-A {What does the title mean?}

47 July 1959 28 20 Terry Carr review in Fanac 42 (August 18, 1959, p. 3): “continues Bob Madle’s Loncon report, Dan Adkins’ fanzine reviews, and Jim Harmon’s series of prophiles on fans he has met. This one’s on Redd Boggs, and is fairly amusing, just like the rest of the issue. The art by George Barr is the most impressive thing about this issue.”
