SFWPA

An organization for professional writers begun by A. E. van Vogt in the mid 60s which grew to around 45 members. It was started about the same time as Damon Knight's SFWA and in June 1965 Van Vogt shelved his proposal in favor of SFWA.

SFWPA probably stood for "Science Fiction Writer's Professional Association".

SFWPA seems to have been focused on protecting SF writers writing for the movies and TV.

A copy of Van Vogt's letter dropping SFWPA can be found in the October 1965 issue of Science Fiction Times.

Club
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
