Los Angeles, CA was one of the first centers of fannish activity, with Chapter 4 of the SFL established there on October 27, 1934. It was soon energized by the young Forrest J Ackerman, so that upon the demise of the SFL, the LASFL reorganized itself as LASFS on March 27, 1940.
