Les Childs

Les Childs was a British fan from Cheltenham active in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a member of the Cheltenham Circle and a founder of the Order of St. Fantony where he was was Knight Master of the Rolls. At Cytricon III in 1957 he appeared "with wig and false beard, a hat, some sort of medallion in the middle of his forehead, and what looks like an embroidered farmer's smock." (Prolapse 9, November 2007)

Cytricon III seems to have been his first convention and he was a regular through to 1961 – where he appears in a photo although he's not on the membership list – but not seemingly thereafter. A reference in Prolapse 7 suggests that he was one of the fannish photographers who took pictures and circulated copies to other fans.

He is first listed in the 1958 and 1959 editions of Ron Bennett's Directory of Science Fiction Fandom but not later or earlier.
