Fans and Ethics

Fans and Ethics was an 11-page one-shot fanzine published in 1960 by Vin¢ Clarke. While it isn't explicitly dated, the greater part is the text of a letter date January 7, 1960.
Clarke began by saying:
Since fanzines began, the freedom of the fan press has been one of its most cherished possessions. We who publish and edit fanzines have always felt able to say what we liked in the columns of fanzines, unfettered by the commercialism of the mundane Press and knowing that we could be called to account for any transgression of the unwritten rules – tell the truth as you see it; deal fairly with anyone you criticise.
He goes on to say that Laurence Sandfield had written an article in Northlight 7 (November 1959) purporting to be "a 'history' of the events in the London Circle", a group of which both Clarke and Sandfield were members. Sandfield had not replied to letters seeking to establish the nature of his grievance and had published a further piece in Northlight 8 (January 1960).
It was therefore decided to publish an answer to the two articles. Even at this time, Sandfield has been given 2 more chances. He has not taken advantage of either. This is the answer.
