The Third Chicago Conference was held in April 1940, when Mark Reinsberg and Erle Korshak went to Bloomington, IL, to meet Bob Tucker and Sally Roberds. They stayed for found days and planned the Illini Fantasy Fictioneers as part of the planning for the Chicon, the 2nd Worldcon which they were hosting that Labor Day.

All detail on the first two Chicago Conferences is lost, but chances are they were of similar size. There was no local club and the Chicago fans who were organizing the Chicon made feuding endemic. Bob Tucker (who was an outsider who had to endure it to do his part in the Worldcon) described the year between Nycon and Chicon as "a long, running, dirty fight that just about wrecked the old Chicon."
