(August 20, 1915 – January 17 1979)

Steve Takacs was a New York fan active early enough that he was a member of Denvention in 1941. He ran an sf bookstore, Stephen's Book Service, in Manhattan in the 1950s and ’60s, and was well known for kvetching that business was bad.

He attended Worldcons and contributed to such fanzines as the Science Fiction Yearbook. He belonged to the N3F, ESFA and QSFL, according to the 1950 Fan Directory.

He was married to Ronnie Takacs; they had three children; and all were in attendance at Nycon II in 1956, where he had a huckster table.

He served in the Army in World War II, achieving the rank of Captain, and is buried in Calverton National Cemetery.
