'''PARSEC''' is a [[Pittsburgh]]-area [[club]] which is a [[501(c)(3)]] non-profit [[organization]] promoting [[SF]], [[fantasy]] and [[horror]] in literature, [[media]] and [[music]].   It puts on [[Confluence]] and publishes  the ''[[SIGMA]]'' e-[[newsletter]].  

PARSEC used to be an initialism for "Pittsburgh Area Realtime Scientifiction Enthusiasts Club" -- but wisely gave that up....  The founders included [[Ann Cecil]], [[Barbara Carlson]] and [[Kevin Riley]] and the club was founded in the mid-1990s.

Parsec Ink is its publishing arm and publishes themed anthologies annually

In September 1988, the Pittsburgh Press published an article about the "First" Pittsburgh ScienceFiction Conference.
