Octocon II was held October 15-15, 1978 at the Sheraton Tropicana in Santa Rosa, CA. The GoH was Frank Herbert. Richard Lupoff was MC and Carol Star Safer was Artist GoH. They announced that they would present the Hamilton Memorial Award for 1978 at the convention. Attendance was about 1250.
There was a convention report on it in Locus #215, October 1978.
