Missouri’s big centers of fanac are Kansas City and St. Louis.

The Poplar Bluff Science Fiction Club was extant in the 1950s, and the Missouri Science Fiction Association existed for a few years in the ’60s and ’70s at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Columbia also hosted Concentric '84, and Stellarcon '79 was held in Joplin.

In the 1950 Fan Directory, four fans were listed in Missouri: William E. Ball (St. Louis), Manly Banister (Kansas City), Ray W. Cummings (Kimmswick — not the author Ray Cummings) and Raymond Fisher (Poplar Bluff).
