Minicon 17 was a convention held in 17-19 April, 1981 at the Minneapolis Radisson. Guests of Honor: Jack Vance, Jerry Boyajian, Reed Waller and Kathy Marschall.

The convention did not have a chairman, but was run by an executive committee consisting of Don Bailey, Steven Bond, Scott Imes, and Dave Wixon.

Because "14" had never been used to number a Minicon, the next convention was numbered 14.
