It was created November 16, 1941, at the first Michicon. The first directors of the M-WFFF were E. E. Evans for Michigan, Bob Tucker for Illinois, Claude Degler for Indiana, and Dr. C. L. Barrett for Ohio.

At the 1942 Michiconference, Tucker was elected coordinator and Dr. Alan Becker was elected President. The MFS and an organization from Iowa joined.

As will come as no surprise, Degler created multiple ersatz clubs (including the Ohio FFF, the Kentucky FFF and the North Dakota Fantasy Fan Federation) and added them as members.

An organization of states in the American Mid-West, formed at the Michiconference in 1941, which set up the Illinois Fantasy Fan Federation (replacing the Illinois Fantasy Fictioneers), Michigan ditto, Indiana ditto, and Ohio ditto. In 1942 tentacles took in the MFS and Smarje's Midwest Fan Society. The state organizations had practically no activity and consisted mostly of "locals" of one or two people. The MWFFF itself had little function aside from holding the Michi(gan)conference. But this regional setup inspired the ill-starred Battle Creek Plan that brought on an N3F interregnum.
From Fancyclopedia 1, ca. 1944
An organization of mid-eastern states formed at the Michiconference of 1941, which set up the Illinois Fantasy Fan Federation (replacing the IFF), the Michigan ditto, Indiana ditto, and Ohio ditto. In 1942 the MFS and Schmarje's organization also joined. The state organizations have practically no activities to carry out, and except for half a dozen in large cities, consist of "locals" of one or two people. The MWFFF itself has little function aside from holding the Michiconferences. But this regional setup inspired the ill-started Battle Creek Plan for the setup of the NFFF.
