Matthew B. Tepper, an LA area club and convention fan, attended his first convention in 1968: Baycon, that year’s Worldcon. He has been a member of LASFS since 1969 and served in a variety of offices; he holds the record for the most terms as club president, having served some 20 times. He was a member of the Little Men (1973–79) and Minnstf (1979–86).

He has worked on a variety of cons, including chairing Loscon 46 in 2019.

He published the L.A.con III committee apa, The Squeak of the Rat. Fanzines include B(h)eer, and Tepper's Terrean.

He was formerly an active APAn, being a member of APA ? (of which he was OE and founder), APA L, The Cult (serving as OA), FAPA, LASFAPA (serving as OE), Minneapa (serving as OE) and Stipple-APA (of which he was OE and founder).
