Manly Banister

(March 9, 1914 – June 8, 1986)

Manly Banister was a fan and a pro author from Kansas City. He used the pennames Gregg Powers and Val Seanne.

He published a fanzine of professional quality, The Nekromantikon (1950–1951), which ran for five issues. He also pubbed a one-shot, Egoboo: Or The Time Traveler's Travail, which contained a 24-page faan fiction story he’d written. His mimeograph was the Iron Maiden.

He belonged to the N3F and contributed regularly to fanzines.

He had already been publishing fiction of genre interest when he became active in fandom, starting with "Satan's Bondage" for Weird Tales (September, 1942). He also wrote nonfiction, including books on bookbinding and book making and how-to articles for Popular Mechanics.
