Banister was a fan and a pro author. He published an early fanzine of professional quality, The Nekromantikon (1950-1951), which ran for five issues. His was the Iron Maiden.

Earlier he began publishing fiction of genre interest with "Satan's Bondage" for Weird Tales (September, 1942).
